Too MuchToo Much by Lea Griffith
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is one word explosive. t grabbed my heart and didn't let go. It was a true BDSM book but not your typical one. The story was captivating and the mystery and suspense kept me on the edge of my seat. I am a new fan of this author's work. I loved this book as a whole a perfect combo of everything I look for in a book.

Song Of The Fireflies Pre-Release Day Blitz

SONG OF THE FIREFLIES (February 4, 2014; Forever E-Book; $3.99)

THE TRUTH WILL SET THEM FREE

Brayelle Bates has always been a force of nature. Even as a child, Bray's wild and carefree spirit intimidated everyone around her. The only person who's ever truly understood her is her best friend, Elias Kline. Though every fiber of her being wants to stay with Elias forever, Bray can't bear the thought of him discovering her agonizing history. She's done everything she can to keep him at arm's length, including moving away. But their undying bond was too strong a pull to deny, and Bray couldn't survive without him. Now she's back home with Elias, and things have never felt more right-until one night changes everything.

Elias vowed never to be separated from Bray again. So when she decides to flee in a desperate attempt to escape her fate, Elias knows he must go with her. As the two try to make the most of their circumstance, taking up with a reckless group of new friends, Elias soon realizes there's a darkness driving Bray he can't ignore. Now in order to save her, he'll have to convince Bray to accept the

consequences of their reality-even if it means losing her.

Song Of The Fireflies by J.A. Jedmerski was a very emotional and heart wrenching read.  It wasn't your typical love story and very far from it.  I really did enjoy the story and it's characters.  It felt very real and left me feeling so much more them when I started to read it.  It was a story of love, friendship, darkness, and light.

Bray and Elias are best friends the meet as children and form a very strong connection.  They grow up together and understand each other.  As they get older Elias discovers he has feelings for Bray.  Unfortunately Bray has some deep dark secrets that she doesn't want anyone to know.  She decides to keep Elias far away from her heart as possible.  When Elias gives her an ultimatum she gives in and decides to move their relationship to the next level.  It works for a while until Bray breaks up with Elias and leaves him.  Four years pass and she's back.  She comes back to tell him she needs him and she's done running from him.  Things seem to be finally perfect for them until one night tragedy strikes.  When Elias promised to never leave Bray he meant it.  He is willing to go to the ends of the earth for her.  That's exactly what he does!  When he finally learns the secrets she's been hiding he must decide if losing her will be worth the sacrifice if it saves her

Thunder rumbled in the sky and the thick, dark clouds lit up in the distance, revealing what the tops of the trees looked like painted against the black backdrop that had shrouded them. The crawling branches that reached upward along the infinite dark looked ominous as the flash of light faded.

I felt a drop of rain. And then another.

“So much for a quiet walk together,” Bray said.

And just then, the sky opened up and it began to pour. Bray shrieked and tried to cover herself unsuccessfully with her arms and then the screaming turned into laughter. We were both drenched in under five seconds. The rain pounded down so fast and so hard that we had to shout over the noise to hear each other; each drop like a million nails being thrust into the dirt on the baseball field.

“It’s a long walk back!” I said.

Bray started spinning like a ballerina in the middle of the field. She laughed and raised her arms above her and turned her face upward toward the sky and just let the rain wash over her. She opened her mouth and spun around and around. I watched her for a moment, mesmerized by her innocence. I saw that little girl I met so long ago, running with me through that pasture without a worry in the world. Just seeing her like that, it made me smile, but deep down it also crushed me. I knew that she would never be that innocent again, that our life together would never be as carefree as it was when we were children.

“Dance with me!” she shouted.

“What?”

“Dance with me!”

I had heard her right the first time. I just didn’t understand why here, why now.

“There’s no music!” I said over the rain.

She grabbed my hand. “You don’t hear that?!” she said, motioning to the patter of rain and thunder around us.

She started spinning around me and I stood in the same spot following her until she grabbed both of my hands and pulled on them. Next thing I knew, we were spinning together, holding each other’s hands tightly and distributing equal weight on our arms. At first, I felt like an idiot and hoped Tate wasn’t spying, or worse, Caleb. But I was quickly lost in Bray’s laughter and her smile and her beautiful blue eyes. The thunder got louder, the lightning more intense. I was beginning to worry about us being out in the open like this, in the center of a baseball field just asking to be struck down by the finger of God. But soon, I didn’t care. We were those two innocent children again, living free and loving life. And not even lightning could ruin this moment. It wouldn’t dare.

We stopped spinning, and I twirled her around by her hands as I stood in place, and then I dipped her. Leaning over her body, I pressed my wet lips between her breasts as her white shirt was weighted down by the endless rain.

She's mine. That was the first thought that came to my mind when I held my baby in my arms at seventeen. I didn't care that my parents had already promised to give her to a wealthy family. That they were forcing me to give her away. She was mine. I ran away from that hospital, from that family, from the only life I knew. I planned to start over with what little money I had, determined to make something of myself despite the odds. Then Logan Tate came along. Gorgeous and controlling, he claimed he was trying to help me, and he didn't care that I was just another teenage pregnancy story. But I don’t trust him. I don't trust anyone. And if Logan knew the real secrets and lies I was keeping inside, he wouldn't dare try to shelter me.

Shelter You by Alice Montalvo Tribue is one of the best books that I have read so far this year.  I enjoyed Alice's other books, but this one was phenomenal.  It gripped me from the very beginning.  The story was very unique and encouraging.  It was one of those books that makes you want to be a better person.  Seeing how these characters formed their relationships was so real and beautiful.  I'm so happy to of been on this journey with them.

Mia is a seventeen year old girl who has just given birth to her daughter.  Instead of giving her up Mia decides to run away with her.  She never wanted to give up her baby but her family didn't want her to keep the baby.  She plans on starting a new life with her baby.  She knows she's young and with what little money she has is determined to care for herself and baby.  When her apartment is broken into young police officer Logan Tate decides to help Mia out and let her stay with him until her apartment is safe for her to live in again.  Well actually he demands she stay with him.  He is also pretty easy on the eyes so Mia agrees to his help.  Mia and Logan form a bond and being around him makes her feel like she has a family.  One she never had.  Mia is afraid to trust Logan.  Nothing is more important to her then her daughter.  Logan seems to understand what she is going through and has agreed to be there for her when she needs him.  Their relationship becomes a lot more and Mia eventually gives into her feelings to have something more with Logan.  Mia knows it's probably not forever and that if Logan ever found out her real secrets that he wouldn't want anything to do with her.  She decides be happy with Logan as long as he will have her.  Then when everything seems to come to light it's Mia who will need to make some big decisions on the future of all three of them.

How lucky for Mia to find this amazing man.  He takes her in and just cares for her.  Something that her family should have been doing for her all along.  She has to lose everything in the process to find happiness.  I felt like fate brought these two together.  Everything that happened to Mia led her straight to Logan.  The perfect man to love her and her daughter.  There are a few ups and downs and I have to give it to Mia, she handled herself gracefully.  She acted so mature and ultimately everything she did was for her little girl.  She knew she needed to be that little one's mother and she did it perfectly.  I adored that baby so much.  She brought happiness to so many people in this book.

The relationship between Logan and Mia started unconventional and you are certainly going to want to read about it and watch it blossom.  It was like a breath of fresh air when these two got together.  I wouldn't of had it any other way.  This book was pretty much perfection in my eyes.  I am looking forward to reading a lot more from Alice in the future.

Excerpt

Vinny slips on a pair of running shorts and reaches down to the floor, pulling up the panties I’m still searching for.  “You looking for these?”  He twirls my sad excuse for underwear around on his one finger with a devilish grin.

“Yes.”  I reach out to grab them, but Vinny’s too quick.  He folds them into one hand and hooks his arm around my waist, pulling me to him with the other.

“Stay.  I’ll be back in less than two hours.”

“You want me to stay?”

Leaning down, his mouth close to my ear, he responds, “I want you in my bed waiting for me when I get back.”

His words are kind, and I appreciate him offering them to me, but it’s not necessary.  I’m a big girl, he doesn’t need to coddle me after a night of passion.  “It’s okay.  It’s sweet of you to offer, but I have errands to run anyway.”

Vinny turns me to face him, tilting my face up to look into his eyes.  “I don’t do sweet, Liv.  I want you to stay because I’m selfish.  I want back inside of you.  I’m hard just thinking about the sound you make when you come for me.  So fuck your errands and get back in bed and try to get some rest.  Because you’re gonna need it.”

My lord.  Maybe I should be offended at the harshness of his words, but I’m not.  Instead they make me feel drunk with desire and I find myself staring back at him at a loss for words.  Vinny grins, he must know he’s gotten to me.

“Okay?”  He kisses me chastely on the lips.

“Okay,” I finally respond with a smile that lets him know he’s changed my mind.

Grabbing his keys off the dresser, Vinny opens the palm of his hand revealing black lace.  I’d forgotten that he even still had my panties in his hand.  “I’m keeping these.”  With a devilish grin he shoves them into his pocket as he walks out.

A single tear drop defies me and leaks out of my right eye, traveling a jagged path down my cheek. Brady takes his hand off of mine and wipes the tear away with one finger, then cups the side of my face and pulls me a little bit closer to him. “Don’t be sad, Paige. I’ve grieved already. I will always miss her, but I have wonderful memories of my mother to take with me.” I close my eyes and lean into his hand without thinking. I’m sad for him, yes, but I also want to know why he can speak of his dead mother with such maturity when I can’t stop conjuring the image of my dead sister. And I’m a selfish bitch for being jealous of his acceptance. When I open my eyes again, he is looking at me with intent. His thumb moves to stroke my bottom lip and a tiny sigh escapes my throat. The table between us is quite narrow and there is so little distance keeping me from kissing him. It scares me. I feel like a bucket of ice water is being poured over my head and I snap back in my seat with such suddenness that I knock my bag over and the contents spill out on the floor under the table. Brady is still poised there with his hand extended, but the look on his face says he is disappointed. He recovers in record time and we both bend down to retrieve my things. I shove my clothing back in the bag and then I sit up too fast and smack the back of my head on the hard surface of the table. It stuns me and makes my vision swim for a minute, but I still see what is laying on the floor. The package I received earlier must not have been sealed properly because the contents have made their way onto the floor. The necklace my sister always wore, a platinum heart pendant with her Garnet birthstone in the center, is sticking out of the envelope. It is dirty; covered in a substance that I believe is dried blood, and a note is attached. The red lipstick from the mirror was used to spell out ‘I will always find you’.
